The Story Behind Resiliently Rising: Healing, Hope, and Nervous System Recovery
Feb 02, 2024Let me start by saying this: if you're reading this, and the name "Resiliently Rising" resonates with you on any level, you're not alone.
We all carry scars, some visible, some hidden, from the storms life throws our way. Healing isn't linear. It's not always pretty, and it can feel downright exhausting. There are moments when progress feels impossible to see and moments when old wounds seem to resurface without warning.
But healing is also powerful.
That truth sits at the heart of what "Resiliently Rising" represents.
This name wasn't plucked from thin air. It's woven from the threads of my own journey as a trauma survivor. After years of navigating betrayal trauma, chronic stress, anxiety, and the challenges that come with rebuilding trust in myself and others, I found myself searching for something more than coping strategies. I wanted true healing.
I've spent years navigating the murky waters of recovery, and let me tell you, it's been a wild ride. There were moments when I felt utterly stuck, lost in the depths of pain, unable to see the light above.
But amidst the darkness, a flicker of hope emerged.
That hope came through understanding the nervous system and discovering Polyvagal Theory, an incredible framework that explains how our bodies respond to safety, connection, and danger.
For me, the Polyvagal Ladder became a ladder out of the abyss. Each rung represented a step toward greater safety, connection, regulation, and eventually joy. It wasn't about erasing the past or pretending the pain never happened. It was about building resilience. It was about developing the capacity to move through life's challenges without being completely overwhelmed by them.
It was about rising—not despite the pain, but because of what the pain taught me.
And that's where Resiliently Rising was born.
It's a declaration. A reminder that healing is possible. A message for anyone who has ever been knocked down but refuses to stay there.
It's the belief that we can climb, one step at a time, toward greater self-trust, self-compassion, and connection. Not because the journey is easy, but because every small step matters.
This isn't just my story.
It's the story of countless individuals navigating betrayal trauma, childhood wounds, relationship struggles, grief, anxiety, and life's many hardships. It's the story of people who continue showing up for themselves even when healing feels messy and uncertain.
Resiliently Rising exists to support that journey.
It's a space where we share nervous system-based tools, somatic healing practices, education, encouragement, and hope. It's a place where vulnerability is seen as strength and where people can find support as they learn to reconnect with themselves and others.
Whether you're just beginning your healing journey or have been walking this path for years, I want you to know that you're welcome here.
My hope is that through these resources, courses, coaching programs, podcast conversations, and community spaces, you'll discover what I eventually learned for myself:
Healing doesn't require perfection.
It simply requires the willingness to take the next step.
So let's keep climbing together. Let's share our stories, support one another, and remember that healing is possible.
Even after betrayal.
Even after heartbreak.
Even after trauma.
Especially then.
Because resilience isn't about never falling.
It's about learning how to rise.
With warmth and understanding,
Carrie
